Did you know that we now also do Auricular (or ear) acupuncture sessions in the clinic? Ear acupuncture is used for a range of different things, often in combination with acupuncture on your body – but it can also be used alone.
Auricular (ear) therapy is related to both acupuncture and reflexology. The principle is that each area of the ear corresponds to a different part of the body, and by treating the appropriate point on your ear we can affect that part of your body.
You may have heard of this as a treatment protocol called NADA, which is used in many drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs around the world.
What does it involve?
We’ll run through a full consultation looking at physical and emotional aspects to find out what’s important to you. Working with a map of the ear and using a rounded pointer, we’ll examine your ears for the corresponding points that may be tender or ‘active’.
Then we’ll use very fine acupuncture needles, sometimes in one ear sometimes in both to treat the corresponding point on your ear to where you are experiencing pain or other symptoms.
We’ll leave you to relax comfortably for between 20-30 minutes then take the needles out. Often we’ll leave some small ear seeds (on sticky plaster) in place that you can continue to stimulate with acupressure through the week to continue the treatment.
Ear acupunture sessions also work on our say what you pay pricing model and cost between £5-£15.
